Alton Fireworks: Photo by Scott Evers Photography

Once a year, the night skies over the Mississippi River light up with the reds, yellows, oranges and blues of dazzling fireworks in honor of the Independence Day holidays. Make plans now to see some of the finest fireworks events planned throughout the region!

Alton Fireworks Specatular

Arguably one of the best and brightest firework displays is the Alton Fireworks Spectacular at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater located on the banks of the Mississippi River. Each July 3, the boom, bang and bright bursts of fireworks reverberate and are reflected in the river waters to the delight of the thousands of people who take part in the festivities.

Live entertainment, food vendors, and family entertainment kicks off the event starting at 5 p.m. Admission to the Amphitheater is free, although a VIP experience is available for $25 per person. Fireworks will light up the sky at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Before the fireworks begin enjoy live entertainment from the Dave and Greg Band from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Don’t want to sit on the lawn to watch the fireworks? Bluff City Grill will hold its 3rd annual Independence Day rooftop party also on July 3. The party starts at 5 p.m. with DJ Pom kicking off the music from 5 to 7 p.m. Lady Luck will play from 7 to 11 p.m. Beer, soda, and a special events menu will be available on the outside upper level venue and a fully stocked bar inside. Seated is limited so bring a lawn chair to get an amazing view of the Alton fireworks at 9 p.m. there will also be the 2nd Annual Bluff City Corn Hole Tournament hosted by Jersey County Cornhole. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. and the fun begins at 5 p.m. This is a rain or shine event!

Red, White & Brew. Join The Old Bakery Beer Company for its 4th annual fireworks viewing party on July 3 from 5 p.m.-11p.m. The party will be held in the shared parking lot of The Old Bakery Beer Company and Hansen Meat Co. The $5 admission guarantees a seat to view the fireworks, live music from Mondin Band and access to Old Bakery Beer and BBQ featuring lots of meat from Hansen Meat Co., Alton. Spend the evening dancing, playing yard games and enjoying concessions. Top it off with an amazing view of the Alton fireworks. In the event of rain, the party will move indoors to Old Bakery Beer.

Mark your calendars for the St. Mary’s Fireworks Fest on July 3. The event starts at 4 p.m. with live music, beer, food, games, fun and a great view of the Alton Fireworks. Free admission to this family friendly event at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School in Alton.

Another place to check out is Mac’s in Downtown Alton for live entertainment and great food after the Alton Fireworks Spectacular. Don’t miss the free concert in the street featuring national bands Molly Hatchett and Badfinger performing on Belle Street outside Mac's before the fireworks.
