Fireworks Along the Mississippi River

Once a year, the night skies over the Mississippi River light up with the reds, yellows, oranges and blues of dazzling fireworks in honor of the Independence Day holidays. Make plans now to see some of the finest fireworks events planned throughout the region!
Alton Fireworks Specatular
Arguably one of the best and brightest firework displays is the Alton Fireworks Spectacular at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater located on the banks of the Mississippi River. Each July 3, the boom, bang and bright bursts of fireworks reverberate and are reflected in the river waters to the delight of the thousands of people who take part in the festivities.
Live entertainment, food vendors, and family entertainment kicks off the event starting at 5 p.m. Admission to the Amphitheater is free, although a VIP experience is available for $25 per person. Fireworks will light up the sky at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Before the fireworks begin enjoy live entertainment from Dave and Greg from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
Don’t want to sit on the lawn to watch the fireworks? Bluff City Grill will hold its 3rd annual Independence Day rooftop party also on July 3. The party starts at 3 p.m. with music by DJ Pom, then live entertainment at 7 p.m. by Lady Luck and the Warehouse Project. Pre-register ahead of time or register at 3 p.m. the day of for the First Annual Bluff City Corn Hole Tournament at 4 p.m. It’s $40 per team, so grab a partner. Beer, soda, and BBQ will be available on the outside upper level venue and a fully stocked bar inside. Seated is limited so bring a lawn chair to get an amazing view of the Alton fireworks at 9 p.m.
Red, White & Brew. Join The Old Bakery Beer Company for its 3rd annual fireworks viewing party on July 3 from 5 p.m.-11p.m. The party will be held in the shared parking lot of The Old Bakery Beer Company and Hansen Meat Co. For only $5 you will have access to Old Bakery Beer and BBQ featuring Hansen Meat Co products, live music from the Poor Dirty Astronauts and haven a guaranteed seat to view the Alton firework display.
Mark your calendars for the St. Mary’s Fireworks Fest on July 3. The event starts at 4 p.m. with live music, beer, food, games, fun and a great view of the Alton Fireworks. Free admission to this family friendly event at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School in Alton.
Another place to check out is Mac’s in Downtown Alton for live entertainment and great food after the Alton Fireworks Spectacular. Don’t miss the free concert in the street featuring the Gin Blossoms performing shortly after the Alton fireworks end, roughly 10 p.m. on July 3rd.

... Saturday, June 30 Fireworks in Grafton
Celebrate the 4th of July a few days early in this authentic river community located at the confluence of two great rivers: the Mississippi and the Illinois.
Fireworks will start at about 9:15 p.m. along the Grafton Riverfront near the baseball diamonds on West Main Street.. Arrive early for entertainment and food specials at local restaurants.
Wednesday, July 4th
Blast off your Independence Day celebration at the 4th of July Family Fun Fest at Robert E Glazebrook Park located at 1401 Stamper Lane, Godfrey, IL 62035. The event starts at 5 p.m. with a Patriot Bike Decorating contest for children ages 5-11 year. Children should dress up their bikes and bring their patriotism out to be judged after a short bike parade around the park. Participants must be pre-registered by Friday, June 30 to participate in the contest and entry forms are available at the Parks Office, 6810 Godfrey Road, Godfrey. Admission is free and activities will continue throughout the night until the firework display at 9:15 p.m.
Another spot for 4th of July fireworks is the annual Independence Day fireworks hosted by the city of Jerseyville. Come see the fireworks ignite at 9:30 p.m. from the Jerseyville American Legion Fairground located at 300 Veterans Memorial Parkway, Jerseyville, IL 62052. Admission is free.
