Your Passport to Great Craft Beer

There is nothing like a crisp, cold beer to quench a thirst on a warm summer’s day. And, local restaurants and bars throughout the Meeting of the Great Rivers, All Around Alton, IL have just the right brews to satisfy even the pickiest beer drinker.

Pick up a free copy of the new Craft Beer Passport to help navigate your way through the craft beer scene in Alton, Bethalto and Grafton. The passports are available at participating restaurants and at the Alton Visitor Center, 200 Piasa St., Alton, IL. Visit six of the participating 15 restaurants and bars, have the passport stamped, and return it to the Alton Visitor Center for a free gift.

Passport participants include:
Great Rivers Tap & Grill at Best Western Premier; Hops House at Argosy Casino Alton; Spectators Bar & Grill at Bowl Haven Lanes; Old Bakery Beer; 4204 Main Street Brewing Co.; Grafton Winery & Brewhaus; Bluff City Grill; Chez Marilyn; The Loading Dock; High Flyers Grille; Morrison’s Irish Pub; Tony’s Restaurant & Third Street Café; Grafton Oyster Bar; Catdaddy’s; and Roper’s Regal Beagle.

From lagers to porters, IPA’s to stouts, the best craft beers available in Illinois and Missouri are on hand throughout the region.

Looking to make a Beer Vacation of it? Visit Old Bakery Beer Co., 400 Landmarks Blvd., Alton, for a refreshing Citrus Wheat, Extra Special Pub Ale, Porter or North End IPA, among other beers brewed on site.  Brewery tours are available with advance notice. Old Bakery Beer is also one of the few organic breweries in the region. The brewery also offers a full service restaurant.

Grafton Winery & Brewhaus, 300 W. Main St., Grafton, also has its own craft brewery on site and features a thirst quenching Shandy to a more robust Stout beer. Try a flight of beers to discover your new favorite.

4204 Main Street Brewing Co., 180 Center St., Alton, may not brew it’s beer at its Alton location, but just a few miles south in Belleville its beers are shaped by master brewers. Check out the popular Pecan Brown Ale, Blonde Ale or a west coast style India Pale Ale called Two Hop IPA. All of their locally crafted beer is available at the Alton location.
